We begin by connecting with community members who care about Carmel Clay Schools and may be considering a run for school board. These early conversations aren’t just about encouraging potential candidates—they’re also a chance to educate you on what it takes to run, what the role entails, and how the endorsement process works. Whether you're just curious or seriously considering it, this is a great time to learn more.

We invite all interested candidates to apply for our endorsement. This transparent, open process allows all candidates to be considered. The process usually involves a written Q&A style application, and often includes in-person interviews.

A diverse review team—reflecting voices from across the entire political spectrum—carefully evaluates each applicant. Endorsements aren’t guaranteed; they must be earned. Every applicant is reviewed based on their qualifications, values, and their commitment to representing the entire Carmel community. If no candidate in a particular district earns that trust, then no endorsement will be made. We believe it’s better to endorse no one than to endorse someone who doesn’t meet the standard our students and schools deserve. We don’t seek to elect “a side.” We seek to elect leaders who will put CCS students and families first—always.

After a thorough review, we announce which candidates (if any) have earned the Support CCS endorsement - those with a record of supporting our schools, the experience to lead, and the passion to unite our community.

Support CCS rallies the community through yard signs, events, education, and outreach to help elect candidates who are committed to serving all Carmel Clay Schools families and the unique opportunities and challenges they face.
